About this series

Inspired by my experience in traditional painting lessons, the Still Life series merges classical still-life techniques with modern AI technology. In my studio practice, I embraced the conventional setup of arranging objects and studying light and shadow. To challenge myself further, I used text-to-image AI tools to generate still-life compositions with a surreal twist, such as strangely realistic lobsters. These AI-generated references, while maintaining the essence of classical still life, introduce a fascinating contrast between the old and the new. By translating these digital images into paintings using oil and acrylic, I explore the ethical use of AI in art, creating works that reflect the evolving relationship between tradition and innovation.
