My artist statement – 18-09-2016

I create 3D collages that depict the way we humans experience reality. My goal is to build visual models of experiences where both inner and outer worlds are taken into account.

My 3D canvases are built to challenge the perspective system of the depicted image

I do this for two reasons: Firstly, because I want to challenge the perspective system of the depicted images, as I believe that mental images do not follow any geometrical system. Secondly, because I want to challenge the boundary set by the frame in order for the painting to invade the physical space of the viewer, I believe that this might push him/her to become active and to connect physically and mentally with the piece.

I am interested in the depiction of reality. In my work, I want to challenge the traditional use of flat surfaces and fixed geometric perspective systems as fundamental values of naturalistic representation.
