Giving birth to a G-code child

This is my first 3D print.

Reflection:

The printing of this piece took almost 12 hours (and a huge effort not to think about it). It was really interesting to see the reaction of people when I sowed it around, saying I was going to paint over it, almost everybody told me not to. I imagine that this reaction may have to do with the fact that 3D printing is still a rare thing at the present and people end up seeing them as unique and beautiful, I guess this is the same reaction people would have shown in the past when they saw a paper laser print for the first time.

This experience has given me a lot to think about the process of 3D printing; the software involved and its features, the variables involved (heat, gravity, speed and time), the simplicity of the process and the dependence on a machine.
